Partnering With Parents
One of the key characteristics of our school is our partnership with parents. Partnership is crucial in our vision to equip students with a distinctive and responsive education, enabling them to be transformational with a heart for Christ.
Since our inception, parents have played a pivotal role in the vision and operations of the school. As we’ve grown and developed in those days, so has our parent involvement which now takes many forms. From helping with homework to encouraging in school challenges, from Association membership to helping our students with reading, from committee membership to planning events, from helping with musicals to working bees, there are many ways our families are a part of DCS and we are so much better for it.
Volunteering
Volunteering is just one of the ways we partner with parents. There are many avenues for parents, carers and extended DCS family to volunteer in our school. These opportunities are communicated to our community through our DCS Newsletter and Facebook page.
Any parents wanting to volunteer will need to provide us with your valid Working With Children Check number and must complete a volunteer induction. If you would like to find out more about volunteering at DCS, please complete our Contact Form or call (02) 6882 0044.
Harvest Café
Harvest café has been a much-loved asset to our school community since it was established in early 2020. The café is operated by Mrs Sandra Mudford and is for anyone in our DCS community to use, including extended family members. Year 11 and 12 students may also use the cafe before school and during Recess and Lunch. Students in other years are welcome to use the café before school as long as they are accompanied by a parent or carer.
Our café has also been a wonderful opportunity for many of our students to undertake work experience and learn new skills.
Our café is open Mondays to Fridays, 7:45-9:50am, 10:10am-12:15pm, 12:45-2:00pm.
