COVID-19 - What we are doing
Tuesday 5 May 2020
Like much of the world, school certainly looks different at the moment.
In response to COVID-19 and in keeping our community safe while adhering to government directions, we have taken the following measures:
- Education is being delivered online through our online learning platform, OurDCS, with selected and specialist classes being given hardcopy booklets or other resources to undertake learning at home.
- Students of parents who are essential workers may come to school and will be supervised in their online learning by a teacher.
- At school, online learning is done in classrooms where social distancing and hygiene practices are enforced.
In addition, we have implemented greater hygiene practices across the whole school.
We are continually in contact with our school community through email updates and a dedicated COVID-19 Information Page on OurDCS that outlines the day-to-day impacts of any COVID-19 related changes.
We have a plan in place for a managed return to school. A video explaining this plan can be viewed on our DCS Facebook page, as well as the COVID-19 Information Page on OurDCS.
For the safety of all members of our community, we ask that any members of our school community or visitors do not enter the school if they are unwell. We also ask that parents drop and collect their children in the car park or on Sheraton Road to limit adult to adult contact in the school grounds.
In a frequently changing environment, we are working hard to ensure we respond to any developments as soon they are announced. We do this in ways that allow us to continue to deliver high-quality education while supporting parents at home in their children’s online learning. This is not an easy time for anyone, but our community has been very supportive and we are thankful for their continued support and prayers as we work together.
If you have any questions, please contact the School Office.
