Our History

Our History

Dubbo Christian School commenced as a K-6 school in 1983 with an enrolment of 44 students and two staff members.  Originally situated in the former St Mary’s Primary School in North Dubbo, we moved to our brand new Sheraton Road site in 1987.

The school grew rapidly, with the first Year 12 cohort graduating in 1989.  In 1995 our School Hall was officially opened and in 2012, our beautiful Gymnasium was completed and ready for use.

In 2008 we established a pre-Kindergarten class for 4-year-olds called DCS PREP, followed by DCS pebbles – a pre-Kindergarten class for 3-year-olds – in 2010.  More information about these programs can be found under School Life.

In 2014 Dubbo Christian School took over management of Wellington Christian School, a K-6 school situated 30 minutes away on the banks of the Bell River, and in 2015 we became managers of Pumula Lodge, a 16-student Boarding facility located a few minutes away from our Sheraton Road campus. This allows us to provide an opportunity for high quality, Christ-centred schooling for high school students from outlying centres.

We have been blessed by numerous staff and students who have contributed to the life of DCS over the years.  We are also very grateful to our founding parents; to all who were involved in the very early days of Dubbo Christian School, who worked so hard to establish the special place of Christ-centred schooling that we all enjoy today.
